I am honored that the wonderful poet Rob Carney chose one of my paintings to grace the cover of his new work, The Book of Sharks, from Black Lawrence Press. This new volume shows off his talent and sensitivity with poignant, beautifully written, accessible poems that explore our relationship with the natural world, including several that delve into our troubled history dealing with sharks. His writing has a timeless, mythical quality to it. Even if you don' t usually understand poetry, Rob's poems are well worth a read! In the words of author Dean Rader, "Rob Carney's trenchant, probing poems circle around the self, not so much sensing blood but, perhaps even more dangerously, searching for understanding." We could all benefit from a little more understanding, don't you think?
