EARTH
The body of work I call Earth is a series of geometric abstract paintings that reference various astronomical, ecological, and biological patterns, characteristics and phenomena—the rising and setting sun, tectonic plate shifts, rain, the phases of the moon, a pearl forming in a shell, the changing seasons, the surface of a strawberry, the release of seeds from a pine cone enabled by a forest fire. There is a division within the picture plane reminiscent of a horizon line, with some elements positioned below and others above, referencing that which occurs beneath the earth’s surface and that which occurs in the Earth’s atmosphere and beyond. The work continues my exploration and observation of Earth’s wonders.
