Deepwater Horizon Movie Opens Friday
Deepwater Horizon, a movie starring Mark Wahlberg, directed by Peter Berg, and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan and Matthew Sand, opens in theaters this Friday. The movie is set on the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, which exploded during April 2010 and created the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Environmental issues like this are important to me and are often the focus of my work. In reaction to the 2010 spill, I painted Phoenix, shown here, featuring a pelican with oil drenched wings, hovering on the beach, while smoke billows and oil snakes through the water.
